Her First Overnighter

As many of you have already heard, Syrie had her first overnight stay in the hospital at just under 7 months old.  While it's not what I was expecting Wednesday morning when I was advised to bring her in by her Doctor after finding out she had a high temp, I suppose I should just be grateful it turned out to be nothing.  I've always been one to look at things in the way that, if I'm going to go through all this hassle, there better be a good reason for it, dang it!  At least that's how I always looked at this sort of thing when it happened to me.  Now that I have someone else to worry about, I think about things a little differently, but the thought is always in the back of my mind-some things/attitudes are hard to change. Before Wednesday I really had no idea what a high temperature for a child was.  Since this fiasco, I've learned that babies can stay home with a much higher temp then my little miss endured.  All I knew was that my doctor's nurse told m...

No Rest For The Wicked

*Note: Please try not to be worried/concerned about me or Syrie after reading the following blog. In the words of Alexander, I am having a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. I was still laying on the couch when I got a text message at 7 am from a friend asking if we could wear jeans to work today. Bad, bad night last night.  Syrie is killing me with this ‘no sleep’ thing she’s got going on. The girl barely takes naps, so you’d think she’d sleep through the night like a pro, but that’s not the case.  I put her to bed every night at 8:30 like clockwork. She’ll sleep for an hour or two and then comes her first round of waking up, crying, not wanting anything other than to be held or put in mom and dad’s bed.  Last night she was in bed by 8:30, then awake already when David rolled in at 11:15 from work. I finally gave up at midnight and let David take over the task of  getting her to go to sleep by rocking her in her room. I was so angry with her, but at the sam...

Blood Diamond? Try Gassy Diamond.

With all the weddings in the coming months I decided I better start tanning so that I don't look ghostly in my dresses.  Having a baby makes tanning a little more difficult, so I figured I would squeeze it in on my lunch break, and went for the first time in a long time yesterday.  I typically don't wear jewelry when I go in a tanning bed, but because of the time crunch I decided to leave my wedding ring on.  While getting toasty in the bed I looked down at my ring and under the UV lights to my surprise, the far left diamond on my ring was bright blue--not just the top, but the sides, the entire thing!  I panicked and my mind immediately raced back to February when I got my bands soldered to my engagement ring, and I went home to show David. His response to my ring was, "Your ring looks smaller.  You know, sometimes they switch out diamonds on people."  At the time I thought about it for a second, and then assured myself that that would never happen to me....

6 Months Has Come and Gone

It's hard to believe when people ask me how old my baby is I am now responding with "Six months old".  Where has the last six gone?  And another six will pass and we'll be back from Jamaica with fresh tans, celebrating her 1st birthday, yikes!  I often find myself wishing away the present, and hoping for the future-saying things like, "I can't wait until she can feed herself" or "It'll be so nice when she can crawl". While it's exciting to think about all the fun things to come, I  need to sit back and enjoy the present.  Someone once said "Children have neither a past nor a future.  Thus they enjoy the present --which seldom happens to us." I find this to be right on for myself.  Thinking back to when I was a kid. I wasn't worried about how much time had passed nor was I concerned about the future.  All I was concerned about was that day, and what I was going to fill it doing! Our little Syrie is starting to sit up all ...

A Lot Has Happened in the Last Year

Today marks David and my one year wedding anniversary. It's funny to say that because we've been together (off and on) for almost 5 and half years, so to start over at one sounds silly:) When I look back at the last year, I realize how much has happened. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again. I found out I was pregnant while we were already in the process of looking for a house to buy, and then on a whim, we decided to have a quick marriage to help with the bills and make things less complicated with having a baby. That's a big pill to swallow in such a short time. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to marry him and vice versa, but I had no idea my wedding would take place on a Monday in the Grundy County Courthouse:) I'm not complaining, I'm very greatful for everything I have and I'm know how blessed I am. I'm just saying it's not every girl's dream as a child that some day they'll get married in a courthouse, haha. I remember...

Sleep, Why Have You Betrayed Me?!

I am struggling today. After a night of get up, lay down, fight, fight fight! I'm ready to take off work early and go enjoy a nap. The one thing I have that's keeping me going at this point is Red Lobster. A few of my co-workers and I are heading there for an early lunch as it's one of my co-workers Birthday today. Back to the no-sleep saga, Syrie was a good sleeper from the time she was two months old, but lately that all seems to be crumbling in front of me. Last night I finally laid her down at 10:30, but I was awakened shortly thereafter to crying through the monitor because her pacifier fell out. The next thing I know, I'm rolling over and there she is between David, myself and bunches of pillows. I've never been comfortable with her in bed with us because for one, I'm scared one of us may accidentally roll over on her (David thinks I'm crazy for saying this), secondly, she could easily get smothered by one of the six pillows or heavy comforter ...

Welcome, Welcome!

Welcome to my first official blog post.  I've been interested in starting a blog for a while now. Thanks to the many social networks available, I've found myself following a few blogs, and thought to myself, I love to talk about myself and what's going on in my life, so why not start my own..so here it is.  With the name being 'And Baby Makes 3' you could have guessed it's going to focus primarily on my family and what's going on in our lives, but I'm sure I'll throw in a few odds and ends here and there. Let me get you up to date with my life as of now.  I got married in March 2010 to my long-time love, David and we found out we were expecting just shortly before.  While this wasn't  how we planned to get married, we decided that a quick ceremony would be the best thing for us at the time, and we promised each other a real ceremony and reception would be in the works for the following year.  Something we've both learned since having baby i...
